As part of tech week we decided to head into the porta cabin and dismantle an old PC to have a look at its components. A lot of elbow grease was required but everyone found it very interesting.

We have a big addition to our classroom in the form of worms. As part of our Sow and Grow experience, we have put together a wormery. The pupils helped put the compost, sand and gravel into the container. Then we went to search for worms down by the pitch. We learned a lot of interesting facts about worms including the fact that there are 5,000,000 worms underneath our pitch alone!! That’s alot of worms.

This week’s theme was based on ‘ The Hospital’. Pupils made name tags , plasticine patients, pretended to be doctor’s and patients, used water and various utensils to make medicine and even constructed a hospital from bricks. Even though there were some very serious injuries, everybody enjoyed this theme. Our future is in great hands!!

We are taking part in a competition called Sow & Grow. The competition is sponsored by Innocent Ireland and is operated in association with GIY Ireland. The project encourages children to grow their own vegetables to help them better understand where their food comes from.
By growing it themselves, children are much more likely to eat (and enjoy eating) fruit & vegetables and continue with healthy eating habits for the rest of their lives. And, while they do it, they’ll be having bit of fun messing about and getting their hands grubby while breathing in a few lungfuls of fresh air.
Read our growing diary on our Sow & Grow page or click on the link to see it on the Sow & Grow website
